Launch of a new iPhone is always surrounded by anticipation, excitement and speculation. It is the same this year too. As the time for the launch of iPhone 6s / 6c / 7 seems to be drawing nearer, tech enthusiasts are intrigued by the prospect of getting familiar with new and never-seen-before iPhone features. Amid this frenzy, numerous rumours and speculations have surfaced hinting at what the latest version of iPhone might have to offer.
All the information available is nothing more than speculation and nothing can be said with certainty. Only the unveiling of new iPhone, as expected to take place on 9th of September, will put the rumours and speculations to rest.
In this infographic below we have gathered all available rumours and leaks from some of the most reputable sources:
September is drawing ever closer which means that the iPhone 6S release is just weeks away! We can barely contain our excitement so to unleash some of the tension we’ve put together one final list of iPhone 6S rumours that will have you salivating in anticipation.
In early July 9to5Mac claimed to have sources leaked images that show what the latest iPhone 6S will look like. Put simply, it’s slim, streamlines and utterly sexy.
This year’s latest iPhone will be available in a myriad of stylish yet subtle colours designed to slip seamlessly into contemporary lifestyles. Think gold, silver, space grey and a chic new rose gold hue. Rumours are even circulating that as well as rose gold in anodised aluminium, this colour could also be available in genuine 18-carat rose gold as seen in the luxury Edition Apple Watch which comes with a price tag of £8,000.
Leaked pictures appear to show external and internal silver metal casing. Could this be the same next generation Series 7000 aluminium alloy used to craft the Apple Watch Sport? If so, the strengthened composite would offer iPhone6S users a whole lot of durability.
The sizing specs of the iPhone 6 went down a treat with users which makes us think that the 6S version will stick to the same 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch dimensions. Leaked pictures of the casing also appear to indicate these measurements. That said, a Chinese supply line source has also claimed that the iPhone 6S will be o.2mm thicker than its forerunner. This is likely due to the all-new Force Touch technology that will feature in the screen. The protruding camera will also add a little extra width bulk however rest assured that the device itself will still be seductively slim.
Despite the fact that the iPhone 6S shell is supposedly thicker than its predecessor, it will weigh in at two grams lighter.
One of the biggest complaints about the iPhone 6 was the bending issues experienced by users, aptly named the ‘Bendgate’ scandal. The new version features reinforcement around key areas such as the home button and the volume buttons to prevent this from occurring. Of course, protecting devices with an iPhone 6S case is also a sure-fire way to keep smartphones looking at their best.
September is coming and we are beyond excited to find out the truth behind the electrifying reports surrounding the iPhone 6S. Whatever comes to light, we’re pretty certain that the device is going to knock our socks off!
Ready for the third instalment of iPhone 6S rumours surrounding the wildly anticipated new device? Read on for some of the biggest and best predictions yet!
As well as the updated NFC chip the iPhone 6S will also sport a second STMicro chip, however its function has not yet been confirmed. So far, rumours speculate it will be used for data security. This will see users enjoy heightened protection on soft SIM, health or biometric data, as well as secure multimedia streaming and watertight enterprise authentication.
While sapphire glass was widely slated as a dazzling new feature on the iPhone 6 it never made an appearance due to manufacturing issues. In this model however we’re pretty certain that the robust scratch resistant material will make its grand debut.
Interestingly, sources are musing that the iPhone 6S could flaunt a new A9 processor developed by Samsung. Talk about a surprising collaboration! It will be smaller, smarter and less power hungry. Instead of operating on the current 20nm process the A9 will use 14nm.
When it comes to memory and performance the iPhone 6S offers users a new level of efficiency. It will see RAM jump from the current 1GB level to a huge 2GB.
iPhone cases are an integral part of protecting devices, however rumours are also flying around that the latest model will feature a revolutionary new screen safety feature to ensure that if devices are dropped they always land face up. How? A vibrating motor, air foils vents or ejecting batteries will spin the handset in-flight to avoid any shatters. Apparently Apple has already been granted a patent.
Another big rumour is that Apple is shunning the home button to offer users a larger display and more streamlined experience. This will see Touch ID technology integrated into the entire display and give the device the ability to simultaneously detect multiple fingerprints.
While it’s unlikely the iPhone 6S will feature this technology, it’s not impossible. Apple is currently developing a new smartphone compatible organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen, as seen in the Apple Watch. It will replace the current LED-backlit Multi-Touch display.
OK, so this prediction is a little far-fetched but it’s no secret that Apple has been channelling cash into the development of bendy devices. Will the iPhone 6S be malleable? Probably not but a few generations into the future and supple smartphones could be a reality.

Following on from our previous post, here’s a brand new set of rumours, predictions and confirmed features surrounding the iPhone 6S release.
In early June it was revealed that the iPhone 6S would run on iOS 9, the latest version of Apple’s iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch software. This was revealed at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) and attracted global attention.
When Siri first made its grand debut in 2011 iPhone 4S users were enamoured. The intelligent personal assistant and knowledge navigator represented a new era of functionality and intuitivism for iPhone users and has gone on to become one of the brand’s most iconic features. Now, Apple has elevated Siri to new heights and rolled out a series of updates to the natural language user interface. The feature will now be more proactive when it comes to recognising behaviour which will see users offered suggestions before they realise what their intentions are.
Judging by previous release trends, the new device will be called the iPhone 6S. If Apple plans to release a larger screen version (which is highly likely) we’ll also see the introduction of the iPhone 6S Plus.
Designed to offer users an experience similar to reading a hard copy magazine, News app is an image centric feature boasting big glossy visuals and an intrinsically interactive user experience.
It swept Apple Watch users away when the device made its grand debut in April, and now Force Touch is set to grace iPhone 6S screens. While it offered wearable tech users the opportunity to layer up buttons on a small display screen, its integration as an iOS feature will see it act as an intelligent shortcut tool. Internally the feature is referred to as ‘Orb’ (thanks to our Apple insiders for this info!) and has been designed to allow users to skip lengthy option selection or button press processes. For example, it can be used to fast-track direction routing in the Maps app, speed up music related requests, enhance the web browsing experience and bring up shortcuts on home screen icons.
According to high profile tech blogger John Gruber, the new iPhone 6S will feature the “biggest camera jump ever.” The advanced two-lens system will elevate performance to DSLR standard imagery and capture shots in a mesmerising 12 megapixels. The front camera will be capable of capturing 1080p video at 60fps and 240fps in slow motion mode, complete with flash support for a crystal clear finish. Don’t forget to invest in an iPhone 6S case with a camera peep hole to ensure you can make the most of the ultra-advanced new camera.
Barclays researchers speculate that the iPhone 6S will feature a brand new near-field communication (NFC) NXP 66VP2 chip that ups the ante from the 65V10 seen in the 6 and 6 Plus.

The iPhone 6S release date is just weeks away, and as a bunch of self-confessed Apple obsessives we couldn’t be more excited about the next generation smartphone. When its predecessor, the iPhone 6 first hit stores last September the world snapped up 10 million devices in just three days, and the latest version is set to fly off shelves even faster! So what galvanising new features can we expect to see in the iPhone 6S?
We’ve scoured the web and pooled together all of our insider intelligence to bring you a sneak peek at the rumours surrounding the release of the brand spanking new iPhone 6S. Hold onto your keyboards because there is some seriously exciting content ahead!
This is one of the biggest iPhone 6S rumours and the general consensus seems to be that the release date will follow the same pattern Apple has adhered to for the past few years. The regular schedule sees new models released every September and we’re almost 100% certain that the iPhone 6S will follow suit. Just look at the iPhone 5. In September 2012 Apple treated us to the initial model, followed by the iPhone 5S and 5C in September 2013. Given the fact that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were announced on September 9, the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C on September 10 and the iPhone 5 on September 12, we’re guessing that the second week of September is a good bet for the release date. September 8 or 9 to be specific!
We’ve heard that the new handset will officially be launched during a keynote speech delivered by Tim Cook, Apple chief executive. He’ll be joined by a fellow flock of high profile Apple deities, including Phil Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide marketing and Eddy Cue, senior vice president of internet software and services.
While the official announcement date is pegged for early September, the iPhone 6S won’t be on-sale to the public until later in the month. At least that’s what a leaked internal email from Vodafone suggests. The document identifies September 25 as the official public sale release date, with pre-orders starting on the 18th. Already, retailers are starting to develop iPhone 6S cases that will complement the brand new generation of device.
The Wall Street Journal has reported that Apple has requested a record breaking number of new models. While last year’s release saw around 80 million on order, this year manufacturers have produced an eye-watering 90 million! This indicates Apple has enormous confidence in its latest model becoming an instant best-seller.
